Cibola Burn — James S. A. Corey

We return again to James Holden and his crew, this time exploring a world out beyond the ring. I’ve been super busy at work and so this one took me more than 2 months to read, but it was as enjoyable as the rest.

Maybe I am getting used to the characters or the way this author plots, but there were a few places (that I won’t spoil) where I knew what the solution was going to be obviously, and I just had to wait for the characters to figure it out. It wasn’t irritating, but it was interesting to watch the clues being dropped.

I was trying to read for craft but I got totally sucked into the story. One thing I guess I didn’t like is all the new crazy different problems that kept creeping in to make it more and more difficult for the team to do their jobs. But at the same time it showed what humanity is up against as we go out and explore the new worlds opened up to us in the last book.

I’ve placed the next one on my to be read list, and I’ll be getting to it when I can… after NaNoWriMo (which is one reason I rushed to finish today!)
